• Manage all quality activities related to shop floor fabrication inspections.
• Reports to QA/QC Engineer for day to day inspection activities
• Review fabrication drawings to understand fabrication, inspection requirements.
• Ensure approved Inspection and Test Plan is adhered during all stages of fabrication.
• Check the correct usage of materials and ensure identification and traceability of all material.
• Conduct fit up inspection for tanks and structural as per the ITP and to provide guidance for welding sequence and distortion control.
• Visual inspection of welded joints
• Dimensional inspection of material-Tanks, piping, structural as per drawings.
• Ensure qualified welders are engaged for the jobs.
• Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing.
• Ensure all welding machines, ovens & test gauges are in calibrated condition and calibration certificates are available.
• Verify welding consumable control procedure and registers.
• Inform to QA/QC Engineer about all the non-conformances observed in the shop floor.
• Ensure latest drawings, ITP, WPS and related documents are available in the shop floor.
• Ensure that all joints for NDE examination are offered on time as per ITP and be a single point contact for NDE Co-ordination.
• Planning of shop inspection activities in advance for inspections related to customer witness and Inform QA/QC Engineer to notify the client once internal inspection is satisfactorily completed.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
• ITI or Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
• Certified Welding inspector (AWS) / CSWIP 3.1 desirable
• Certified Painting inspector (NACE/BGAS) - Optional
SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Must have English written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of measurement instruments required.
• Minimum knowledge on different material grades used for fabrication & welding
• Experience in quality control and inspection is preferred.
• Shall be thoroughly familiar to read & understand fabrication drawings, GA drawings, piping isometric drawings.
• Shall be conversant with fabrication tolerances.
• Shall be able to read and understand ITP & WPS.
• Shall be familiar to read and understand welder’s qualification records
